President's Message

It is with a great sense of pride and profound humility that I welcome you to The Loudoun County (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”   ~ Martin Luther King

Loudoun County, Virginia with its rich history has been recognized as one of the wealthiest counties in the United States. To many people wealth is about possessions, to us, the old adage to whom much is given, much is required” inspires our commitment to serve others rather than ourselves. The genesis for our chapter of The Links, Incorporated in our community came from a vision and faith that through recognition of significant gaps in education, health, social and economic need and supporting the most vulnerable throughout our community.

We have established a partnership and actively supported the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Initiative (HTI) now renamed Reset 180.  We have provided direct assistance to combat homelessness with Mobile Hope, a non-profit focused on providing life changing support to homeless or at-risk youth.  We have supported the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (L.A.W.S.) and Women Giving Back. We have provided direct support to PEARLS Empowerment Inc., a faith based mentoring program that inspires, empowers, and nurtures the potential of girls from the 1st through the 12th grades.  Additionally, the chapter collects donations for Backpack Buddies, another Loudoun County non-profit that provides meals to school children in need over the weekends and long breaks. We have an ongoing relationship and continue to support the efforts of Dulles Food Pantry donating hundreds of pounds of food. Outside of Loudoun County we support volunteer efforts with Covenant House of Greater Washington and have worked with numerous organizations such as Good Sheppard.

We invite you to support our Signature Programs: -

  • Linked in Love, that provides enrichment, mentorship, and support during the holidays with meals and clothing and school supplies.
  • Promise for Tomorrow

On the national level, we’ve supported the National Alliance on Mental Illness and partnered with Potomac River Running and supported their Project Sole charity program.  And globally, we have collected supplies for Our Children’s Future, an organization in Liberia, West Africa, aimed at keeping the girls in school by providing reusable feminine hygiene products as well supporting the some of the needs of a local orphanage.

Today, the Loudoun County (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated stands ready to serve the African American community in Loudoun County, in ways that touch the unreachable, give voice to the unheard and create hope for those previously overlooked in our beloved community.

We have been busy, diligently working to close those gaps to support a number of worthy charities and causes in Loudoun County (VA). This includes global challenges and those unique to our community.

We invite you to support our robust and impactful service.

With much Appreciation and Gratitude,

Amber R. Talbert
